WhatsApp

Connect your UltraClaw AI agent to WhatsApp and chat from the messaging app used by over 2 billion people worldwide. If WhatsApp is your go-to messenger, this channel lets you talk to your agent without switching apps.

How It Works

WhatsApp connects via QR code pairing from your UltraClaw dashboard. Once paired, your agent appears as a WhatsApp contact that you can message directly.
1

Open your dashboard

Go to ultraclaw.ai/dashboard and navigate to Channels.
2

Click Connect WhatsApp

A QR code will appear on screen.
3

Scan the QR code

Open WhatsApp on your phone → SettingsLinked DevicesLink a Device → scan the QR code displayed on your dashboard.
4

Start chatting

Once paired, your agent will send a confirmation message in WhatsApp. You’re all set.

Configuration

Allowlists

Control who can message your agent on WhatsApp. By default, only your phone number is allowed. Add additional numbers from the dashboard if you want family members or colleagues to have access.

Group Policies

Similar to Telegram, you can configure how your agent behaves in WhatsApp group chats:
  • Respond to all messages — replies to everything in the group
  • Respond when mentioned — replies only when tagged
  • Disabled — ignores group messages

Features

  • Text messages — full conversational AI, same as all other channels
  • Images and photos — share pictures for your agent to analyze
  • Documents — send PDFs, spreadsheets, and other files
  • Voice notes — send audio messages for transcription and response
  • Location sharing — share your location for context-aware responses

Limitations

WhatsApp linked device sessions can occasionally disconnect, especially after WhatsApp app updates or extended periods without use. If this happens, simply re-scan the QR code from your dashboard to reconnect.
WhatsApp linked device sessions remain active as long as your phone has an internet connection and the WhatsApp app is running. If your phone is off for an extended period, re-pairing may be required.
WhatsApp supports basic formatting (bold, italic, strikethrough, monospace) but not full markdown. Complex tables and code blocks render better in Web Chat.
For maximum reliability, pair WhatsApp with Telegram as a backup. Telegram’s connection is more resilient and doesn’t require re-pairing.

Best For

WhatsApp is the ideal primary channel if:
  • WhatsApp is your most-used messaging app
  • You communicate primarily with people who use WhatsApp
  • You want your AI agent alongside your existing WhatsApp conversations
  • You need a channel that works great on both Android and iPhone
