# Discord

Bring your UltraClaw AI agent into Discord — perfect for personal use, team collaboration, or running your agent in a server where everyone can interact with it.

## How It Works

Your agent connects to Discord as a bot that you add to your server (or DM directly). It supports both **text channels** and **voice channels**, making it the most versatile channel for team and community use.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open your dashboard">
    Go to [ultraclaw.ai/dashboard](https://ultraclaw.ai/dashboard) and navigate to **Channels**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Click Connect Discord">
    You'll be guided through adding your agent's Discord bot to your server. Authorize the bot with the requested permissions.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Configure access">
    Set up allowlists and channel permissions from the dashboard to control where and who your agent responds to.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Start chatting">
    Mention your agent in a text channel or invite it to a voice channel. It's ready to go.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Text Support

Your agent can participate in Discord text channels with full conversational capabilities:

* **DMs** — message your agent directly for private conversations
* **Server channels** — add your agent to specific text channels
* **Thread support** — your agent can follow and reply within threads
* **Rich embeds** — responses can include formatted text, code blocks, and links
* **File sharing** — send and receive images, documents, and other files

## Voice Support

Your agent can join Discord voice channels and participate in voice conversations:

* **Join on command** — invite your agent to a voice channel from text
* **Speech-to-text** — your agent listens and transcribes what you say
* **Text-to-speech** — your agent speaks its responses aloud in the channel
* **Multi-user** — multiple people in the voice channel can interact with your agent

<Info>
  Voice support is available on **Pro** and **Dedicated** plans. Starter plan users can use text-only Discord.
</Info>

## Configuration

### Allowlist by User ID

Control exactly who can interact with your agent on Discord. Add Discord user IDs to the allowlist from your dashboard. Users not on the list will be ignored.

### Channel Restrictions

Limit your agent to specific text or voice channels. This prevents it from responding in channels where it's not wanted and helps manage token usage.

### Response Behavior

Configure how your agent responds in server channels:

* **Mention only** — responds only when @mentioned (recommended for busy servers)
* **All messages** — responds to every message in allowed channels
* **DMs always** — always responds to direct messages regardless of server settings

## Best For

Discord is the ideal channel if you:

* **Work with a team** — let multiple people interact with one shared agent
* **Want voice interaction** — speak to your agent instead of typing
* **Run a community** — add AI assistance to your Discord server
* **Use Discord daily** — keep your agent where you already spend time

<Tip>
  For personal 1:1 use, **iMessage** or **Telegram** are simpler choices. Discord shines when you want shared or team access to your agent.

## Limitations

    Your agent needs specific Discord permissions to function (read messages, send messages, connect to voice, etc.). Make sure these are granted during setup.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Rate limits">
    Discord enforces rate limits on bots. In very active servers, your agent may occasionally delay responses to stay within Discord's limits.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Voice quality">
    Voice quality depends on your Discord voice channel settings and internet connection. For best results, use a server region close to your location.
